Video Art Today: A collection of Videoart from the perm collection of Galerie Chartier

In a century marked by digital and electronic technology and defined by the ways in which these technologies are utilized. From these technologies arose a new medium described by Marshall McLuhan as “a window to the world.” The medium’s uses were primarily utilitarian used to convey messages and to connect the masses. McLuhan also foresaw a global village connected by the utilization of these technologies which has been effectively created. A few visionaries such as Nam Jun Paik and The Valsukas began using this medium as a purely organic art form exploring the intrinsic underlying beauty hidden in the properties of the medium itself. The efforts of these visionaries resulted in the formation of video art.
