Prophets and Prophecy: God does nothing without first revealing his plans to the prophets.

In the early 1990’s Diana and I were serving as pastors of a small church in Oregon. We had started the church in our home as an outreach of a larger church in Eugene. Eventually, we rented an office in an old hospital building that had been converted into an office complex. We used some of the common area of the complex for our weekly church services. Our church at that time was made up mostly of young couples in their early twenties. Even though our church was small, it was vibrant. People were getting saved, and we were having a wonderful time growing in the Lord together. As time went on, I began to feel that we needed a larger building of our own to grow in numbers, but we didn’t have the financial resources to do this.

Diana and I went to the annual meeting in Portland of a worldwide ministers fellowship that we were part of. During a time of prayer for each other, we asked a group of pastors to pray for our future building. As they were praying, one of the pastors said, “I just had a vision of your building.” So, he drew a crude sketch of the front of the building. I knew the building instantly. It was an old vacated warehouse with a small office in front. It would have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars to make it barely usable. But we now had a word from God that greatly encouraged us....
