Description

After attending a funeral, a grieving Bill Bentley leaves his Utah homestead. Bent on tracking down an old nemesis, Arthur Franks, Bill is also keen on rekindling a lost romance. After contacting his old trail partner, Lucky, now a town marshal in Phoenix, the two set out across the desert after Franks.
Williams, a scientific genius of a future time, discovers Bill has broken a promise made a quarter century before to remain on his farm for the rest of his natural life. Williams revisits the past to halt Bill on his venture lest it cause consequential disruption. Before Bill and Lucky get far on their track they get caught up in traitorous political and business dealings. A package is handed off to them to be delivered to a subversive in a young Los Angeles. After traveling through miles of hostile desert, trailed by the determined Williams, the two partners arrive in Los Angeles, circa 1901. Bewildered and aggravated by Bill’s unusual behavior, Lucky harshly confronts him and the partners have a falling out.
Lucky stays behind to uncover a Mexican land grab deal and set up a sting in the port of Los Angeles to bust a wartime arms supplier. Bill heads down to his old stomping grounds in Escondido, California where he hopes his lost love, the still beautiful Johnny Perez, resides. Plotting his way onto the ranch and into the ranch owner’s confidence, Bill hires on and discovers his lost love has fled. Bill explains to Johnny, in length, why he did not return to marry her twenty-five years prior. An elaborate hoax is staged in her La Jolla beach house to trap the elusive criminal, Arthur Franks.
Bent on stopping the aging tracker, Bill Bentley, Williams is compelled to integrate into the La Jolla beach scene to confront his quarry, head on. To set things right in the 1901 time frame, the scientific genius has to put Bill totally out of commission lest the big man’s personal interactions and societal intrusions start an irreversible domino effect in the ripple of time.
In the Mojave Desert, where he has been taken to be executed, Dan pleads with the vindictive Lucky for his life.
