Introduction
Throughout my life, flying and sailing have been my great loves. Somehow, all of the experiences in my early life helped when I joined the US Naval Reserve in 1941 just before World War II.
It’s been sixty-two years now since World War II ended in 1945. I was one of the lucky ones to make it home unscathed. I served with an exceptionally great group of guys.
My children and grandchildren, relatives, and others I have known since the Great War have urged me to write about my wartime experiences.
Finally, at age 91, here they are. Searching through those times brought back many memories, which I have not talked about. I guess it is time to pass them on. I loved the flying part, and am lucky to have survived the war and to have lived a good life with my lovely wife, Connie. I hope you enjoy!
