Abstract
In this work (complete with references-bibliography) I demonstrated an understanding the history of the systems known as alcoholism treatment, its theory versus its practice. The reader will find ample evidence of psychotherapy as a fluid combination of art and science from my studies but even more from my extensive experience and practice working with recovering sufferers of alcohol use disorders in a combination of professional practice as well as in the old tried and true self-help groups. Through this experience I have gained, questioned and corroborated my new, old and present knowledge and examined the evolution of a specific realm in our history of solutions to alcoholism in American society, how theory and practice has changed over time and how it may continue to change. (approx. 40 pages depending on device and font choices)
