This slouchy style hat can easily be made in one evening; I'm a fairly slow crocheter and I managed to complete it in under two and a half hours. You only need a 4 oz skein (100 g ball) of medium weight (Worsted/Aran/Afghan) to complete the project.
Three different sized crochet hooks are used to make this slouchy hat; the largest hook is used to start with to form the tip of the hat, which helps to form a better slouchy look. The medium sized hook is used for the main part of the hat and the smaller hook for the hat band to ensure a snug fit.
The finished hat measures approximately 20 inches (51 cm) in diameter around the base, but will stretch to fit larger sized heads, so it is suitable from 'tweens' to adults. The hat length from base to top is approximately 11 inches (28 cm).
