“Everywhere she looked, shapes were fighting other shapes, all moving inhumanly fast.
Close to the foot of the stairs, two women wrestled furiously, smashing into walls that cracked with each impact. Next to the women, a man and a shadowy shape were raking at each other with fingernails fit for a bear.
A crumpled shape slid out into the corridor and left behind dark glistening streaks on the floor. Farther down the corridor, a man scuttled past in the ceiling as if gravity had been reversed. Thunder shook the ground as if it were struck by a giant sledgehammer.
This was a nightmare come real. Not only was she trapped inside it; she was looking for the source.â€
