Field of Battle, Field of Swords

A great war is brewing on a world once colonized by men from Earth. Long, long ago this planet was abandoned by all but a few and its technology was lost. The men from the south have regained some of that lost technology and now they covet the lands of the Northmen. The Northmen are ruled over by a clan leader who is not a man but a woman. Her name is Malin Wolfmistress and she has united the men and women of the 146 clans. She is the only chance the Northmen have against the evil Southerners but first she must ask permission of an old druid to cross a land he guards. That land is an island, full of ancient and abandoned domed cities and Malin Wolfmistress must march across it if she is to ambush the Southerners and take the battle to them. The druid is old and powerful and he knows magic. The Northmen respect magic but the Southerners do not believe it exists. The druid considers for a moment and consults with his ravens and then Malin Wolfmistress is given permission to cross the island. She knows she must succeed at all costs as she gives the order to march forward.
