Description
The Schlock! munchkins are celebrating our second anniversary this week, among other things.
And in our anniversary edition we have the second part of Todd Nelsen’s noirish The Days Are Numbered, now taking on a distinctly Lovecraftian air. Next there’s Boomerang, a story of the lives and times of an invisible friend by Schlock! newcomer John Biggs, then a return from Ray Duchene with his new horror tale, Scavenger. James Rhodes is celebrating the anniversary by taking a week off for reasons of career advancement, so good luck to him (Don’t worry, Rhodes fans - Mr. Thomas returns next week!)
Next, Ron Koppelberger introduces us to The Root Trader. And in Daniel’s Dream, we meet a boy, twelve. In The Caves of Mars our narrator’s education continues. Meanwhile, the First Men In The Moon are experimenting with intercourse. ("Fnarr! Fnarr!") And A Journey to the Centre of the Earth has finally reached the Central Sea, a vast subterranean ocean jam-packed with prehistoric monsters to turn your hair white!
And finally, there’s a poem by some guy called Gavin Chappell.

Just as a reminder, we’re still open submissions to our latest anthology, The Pulpateers. What we’re looking for is previously unpublished old-style pulp stories in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Word length 6000. Please follow, as far as possible, the Lester Dent Pulp Fiction Formula. The content, as long as it’s sci fi/fantasy/horror, is up to the individual author, but try to make it pulpy and retro. Weird tales, superheroes, Flash Gordon-style space opera, even noir or spy-fi, as long as it has a supernatural or SF twist, will all be accepted. Deadline: 19th May. Payment: exposure plus discounted copies. Send all submissions to editor@schlock.co.uk
