Julia Seiders wrote Charlie Chipmunk's First Winter for her granddaughter Emily. Julia was a photographer and a writer. She kept a journal of all her adventures and started a journal for Emily with this story as the first entry. She was married with 3 children and 10 grandchildren.

Susan Jelonek is Julia's daughter and Emilys mom. Susan graduated from art school and she wanted to illustrate her mom's story as a keepsake. She lives in Virginia with her husband and has 4 children and now has 6 grandchildren of her own.
