📖 Description
It is probably the most well known prayer in the world. The Lord's Prayer is memorized, read, recited and sung all around the world in churches large and small. This Bible study takes an in-depth look at the Lord's Prayer. Jesus disciples came to him one day and asked him to teach them to pray. This might well be called the Disciples' Prayer since Jesus was teaching them some very important lessons about prayer.
Jesus says to pray in this manner. This was never intended to be a prayer said by rote. The Lord's Prayer (though wonderful when used as a prayer) goes much further than that. It shows us how to pray. It lays out for us the essential aspects of what prayer is like.
This Bible Study focuses on those elements of prayer illuminated by The Lord's Prayer. We will see a progression of thought and the reason for each section of the prayer. This Bible study is intended to help you develop a richer prayer life, not by repeating the words of this prayer or even copying the outline or format, but by understanding more about the dynamics of our relationship with God through prayer.
You can use this Bible Study individually or with a small group. These lessons take a discovery approach to Bible Study beginning with a short commentary followed by study questions based on specific scriptures. These questions can help the individual search the word and they provide good discussion questions to be used in small group study.
