Description
Our Musical World, Book 2: Assets of a Global Vision - Human Universals in Music.
Book 2 of this critically acclaimed series, examines the pressing demand to acquire a global vision as well as skill-sets needed to compete in or find comfort with - an emerging planetary culture. It explores the historical origins of national, racial, and cultural boundaries, offers valuable insights into the manner by which ancient perceptions of identity may be impacting our lives, and offers clear views on how to expand a healthy and prosperous vision of our planet.
Assets of a Global Vision, features five video mini-documentaries, an Introduction; The Assets of Being Amateur, featuring Karasu Randa (Japanese amateur artist); The Nature of Global Exchange, featuring Fra Fra Sound (Netherlands/Suriname collaboration with artists from Mali), Culture Balancing, featuring Ecuador Manta (Ecuador); and the internationally acclaimed global fusion project: Playing for Change, “Satchita†(Brazilian, India, global fusion). A project for “immersing†ourselves in another culture and building a creative expression or artwork from our experience concludes the book.
Our Musical World (OMW), Book 2 – will assist the reader to identify possible biases, misleading identity labels, and re-examine historical processes that may restrict our capacity to develop an accurate global vision. It also helps the reader understand that change, fusion, global exchange, and “multi-culturalism†is an ancient tradition – reflecting the natural human drive for creative innovation.
Published by: Visions & Vibrations International, LLC for the non-profit: World Center for Creative Education (WCCE – 501c3). All proceeds are used for educator/artist development linked to creative education reform and to support the Playing for Change Foundation (PFC).
