So why would you want to read this book? Well, you will definitely be smarter by the end of it (that is smart enough not to buy any more by this author). You will, on the way to this realisation, learn some new words of more than two syllables and some quite interesting facts. You will read about the pirate soprano choir. You will read about saints, sinners, staring cats and spiders watching you. You will learn some tricks and how to make a rainbow.
Most of all I would hope that this book will make you smile.
"Querulous Eyes" is an Orthoptist's reflections on people, the world and the universe from an eccentric point of view.
The workings of the eyes are never considered by the average person until some insult interrupts their normal function. Even then and despite our laboured explanations, people still have their own interpretation of the function and malfunction of their optics. This has always been a secret delight to me, confirming the fact that the universe that we inhabit as individuals is unique and created entirely in our own minds eye.
This book is an eccentric view of the field of vision we call Orthoptics, experienced by an Orthoptist and inspired by people. I enjoy people, especially the tiny ones and their singular interpretation of a complicated world.
The invented bits are mostly true.
