Description
Big life events such as divorce, marriage, and death are times when money is in motion. Thousands and sometimes even millions of dollars change hands, along with the designation of beneficiaries and trustees. Unfortunately, these are also times when people are the most vulnerable to making huge money mistakes that can haunt them for the rest of their lives. Who do you turn to during times of crisis or change, when you need professional advice? How do you know which professionals you can trust?
This publication, The 5 Most Common Mistakes in Divorce, is the result of collaboration between me and RichLife Advisor Noah B. Rosenfarb, CPA/ABV/PFS, and managing Director of Freedom Divorce Advisors.
His background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) formed the beginnings of his experience with business regulations and tax law. Later when he became Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), he started testifying in divorce courts about how much a business was worth, how much money was made, and what it was spent on. He noticed the alarming number of divorce cases where people made irreversible money mistakes that ruined lives and caused further hardship to families. His focus began to shift. After becoming certified as a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), Noah gained a deeper understanding of the personal tax and financial implications that occur during divorce. He has now spent more than 15 years working in the area of divorce, helping thousands of families to negotiate win/win resolutions in increasingly tough and complex cases.
This book came together out of a conversation we had about the need for a resource people could turn to before money mistakes were made. Nothing impacts your life more than money and relationships. When divorce happens, you are dealing with both areas simultaneously, and often under stressful or emotional conditions. Having the right information is critical to protecting you and your family, your health, wealth, and the future achievement of your RichLife.
This book addresses the 5 most common mistakes that Noah has seen in the thousand plus divorce cases he has been involved with over the years. It also gives you the answers to the most common questions people ask during divorce. Throughout the book, you’ll find real-life case studies based on true stories. These cautionary tales are followed by resources, steps, and checklists all geared toward giving you the information you need to navigate a tough situation while increasing your chances for a positive outcome.
