My grandmother told stories of hardship and how they had trouble even making the smallest amount of vegetables. It seems that this town was destined to die early, but then something remarkable happened. As the story goes, apparently a young prospector went into the mountains and found this ore that was very rare and would bring in vast amounts of revenue for the town. No one knew where it came from, only that it seemed to appear when the town was close to being abandoned. From that day on, things in the town improved considerably and we saw growth for the first time. This growth continued its trend with the opening of the box plant.
The plant and the mine gave enough work to the townspeople that they began to need more people to sustain the demand for the ore. A recruitment went into place in the 60’s and soon many more came to feed off the good fortune of the town.

I was born in this town in the early 90’s and when I was old enough I started working at the mine and then took on a managers role at the plant. I realized a few years later that I had the skills to live off the land and decided on a major lifestyle choice. When I turned 18, I began having these harsh and blinding headaches that began to debilitate me. I found help from the only people in town that were capable of such help. She was a doctor that was raised in this town and was the third generation of her family to do so. Her father and grandfather were the previous owners of the practice that she now owned.

I came into her office today, “I could really use some more of that medicine that you gave me a month ago” he said.

“Are the headaches getting worse or are they the same?”

I told her that I thought that they were the same, but this morning I woke in the kitchen of my house and not in my bedroom.
