Description
Sometimes our insecurities are obstacles to our happiness
Attending her high school reunion is something that fills Beth Thomson with dread. On the insistence of her best friend she goes, not knowing what to expect from her former class-mates.
The night is an eventful one. After a run in with old enemies and a chance encounter with her high school crush. Still plagued by her own insecurities could things change for the better for Beth? Will her former crush see her as plain old geeky Beth or will he see her in a new light?
Excerpt:
Picking up the glass she turned around and knocked straight into a wall of tall lean shoulder, her drink sploshed around in the glass and spilled everywhere.
“Oh gosh! I’m so sorry! I didn’t get any over you did I?†she said while checking the floor for the signs of spillage, her fingers wet from the sticky liquid.
As she raised her head, she lifted her gaze, and she saw exactly who she’d knocked into. She blushed, her cheeks getting hotter and hotter as she registered who was standing in front of her. Staring back down at her was a pair of smiling blue-grey eyes. She’d recognize those eyes anywhere. She’d daydreamed about them long enough through school.
Slightly nervously she smiled up at Mark. He was a good six feet tall; slim to medium build with ash blonde hair, a square jaw, and the most beautiful eyes framed with dark lashes. He’d obviously matured like everyone else at the reunion, but to Beth he was even more good-looking now than she had remembered him being. He smiled back at her, and at the sight of the small dimples appearing in his cheeks, Beth felt her heart beat pick up speed. Mark casually glanced at the name badge which was pinned above her left breast, obviously he had to double-check who it was that had knocked into him, as he was not quite able to put a name to the face.
“Beth Thomson? My god you look...different.†He hastened to add “In a good way.â€
