Description
NADCA recently surveyed designers and purchasers about the advantages and problems with die cast components. The companies that used die cast products were asked about some of the more common problems they encounter with die castings. Shockingly 35% identified porosity as their major concern. Another 32% identified other defects as their major concern. Most every defect in die casting is related to porosity. Therefore, two thirds of the die casting users identified some form of porosity as their biggest challenge. Since porosity is a common concern among die casters NADCA created a series of webinars focusing on the various aspects of porosity.

This five chapter book is an adaptation of a five part webinar series presented in the spring and summer of 2011 to book form. This publication focuses on providing an overview of porosity in die castings.

Chapters include:
An Introduction to the Causes of Porosity
Controlling Porosity with Processing Parameters
Design for Reduced Porosity
Pore Free Castings With High Integrity Processes
Predicting and Measuring Porosity
