Description
The lady at my side fired so many questions at me about the difference between nuclear energy and weapons grade material that I started writing about them in self defense. “Extinction: The Climatic Time Bomb” resulted. This book is illustrated in color; I’ve attempted to explain scientific and financial terms in a way that a lay person can follow. The book will load in black and white or color.
* My father was a senior naval administrative officer and I was brought up during World War II. When I was assumed to be asleep, he would relate to my mother the war news of the day. As a young boy I learned that some large events escaped publication, people in high places told porkies under the guise of war censorship and newspapers relayed these lies.
*I graduated from university as a Master of Science with First Class Honors. My career involved university lecturing and later, with another scientist we built our own chemical products business. This gave me experience with international financing and trade, which included China. War history became my hobby.
*As we now realize irreversible and accelerating damage is being done to planet Earth by humans. Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases trapping heat that then warms earth air and water, causing abrupt climate; ocean currents and sea level changes. These gasses are caused by humans and their animals’ exhalations, the burning of fossil fuels plus volcanic eruptions. The amount of all gasses produced now far exceeds the Earth's ability to absorb them. But do we realize that melting ice at the poles has held at bay the gasses from eons of time. This dramatically adds to the damage already created.
*Over 99% of all species that ever evolved have become extinct. Evolution takes a long time. Extinction is rapid. The fact we have not accepted is Earth's human population is expanding as the supply of food and comfortable living conditions are shrinking alarmingly. The equation of too many people and shortage of their necessities has become unbalanced. The need for humane population control and to limit greenhouse gas production has become paramount.
*The forces acting against organized change are huge, strong and well established. They are the mining and drilling industries producing fossil fuels. They stand to lose billions in profits plus their unions millions of workers jobs. Religions want more adherents and encourage large families. Politicians want more sympathetic people to vote for them, and countries want to increase the size of their defense forces. Media thirst for the next sensational headline and do not question the above causes of the dilemma we now face. The chances of any of these forces rapidly changing are slim and a nuclear conflict is the looming outcome.
*In 1960, the world's population was a barely sustainable 2 billion people and is now 7 billion. Two thirds are either starving, under fed or living in poverty. The women in these conditions have no contraceptive knowledge or advice and live in subjugation to males. Any women who protest male domination can be subjected to rape and murder, especially if they also seek some rudimentary education. The philosophies that founded religions in general are good, the denominations within have introduced fear in order to control.
*There exists enough nuclear weaponry to exterminate five times the world's population. No nation will willingly give up its nuclear arsenal.
*Part of my book is aimed at women as the bearers of children who somehow have to overcome male domination. The younger generation faces a frightening future. Most scientists realize what the near future holds and have strong feelings about not getting public warnings disseminated sooner.
