In There’s Sunshine Behind the Clouds: Surviving the Early Years as a Special Needs Mom, Andi Sligh shares her personal insights as the mother of not one, but two children with special needs. When her first child was born with cerebral palsy, she read everything she could get her hands on about the condition, but struggled with the clinical-speak and dire predictions. She didn't want to read about all of the bad things that might happen; she wanted to feel that she wasn’t alone and that things would get better.

Seven years after her first daughter was born with cerebral palsy, her son was born with Down syndrome, and Andi found that although the two conditions were very different, much of the experience of being a mom to a little one with special needs was universal. Since she never found that book she had searched for, she decided to write one.

There’s Sunshine Behind the Clouds: Surviving the Early Years as a Special Needs Mom is for every mother of a child with special needs who is at the beginning of the journey, struggling to gain her footing on ever-shifting sands. It focuses on how to not only survive the emotional roller coaster of special needs parenting, but enjoy the ride.
