The Hero’s Journey was popularized by Joseph Campbell in The Hero With A Thousand Faces and has been put forward by some writers as the underlying pattern upon which many of our stories, movies and plays are based. Indeed The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure For Writers, a popular writers' textbook by Christopher Vogler, holds that all successful films have an underlying mythological theme, with the Hero’s Journey being the most prevalent one.
