Description

Hi! My name is Mike Dittmer. I first wrote Parables as a series of sermons that I preached to my tiny church in the year 2009. I later selected 9 of the Parables to become The Rain Parables, a book within a book.
A spectacular chain of events all started from a simple observation: God does not like to rain on Sunday School picnics! See The Parable of The Dry Sunday School Picnic.
Later a farmer named John had asked me repeatedly to pray for rain, and God answered, but the rain had not been enough to break a severe drought. That had led me to pray for thirty days of light rain, which God answered. See The Parable of The Thirty Rainy Days
Several individuals followed suit, with unique requests related to the weather. Several individuals asked that the rain be held back for a special family event. One boy asked for a boat load of snow. One time it rained heavily ALL around town but not on a garage sale. Each prayer had been answered specifically, precisely, sometimes spectacularly.
I then concluded with my self made vision and conversation with God of the minister’s three piece suit and big black bible suspended in a beautifully lighted glass case, and a hammer that was marked “In case of emergency, break glass!” But God took over my vision and taught me a simple but powerful lesson. See The Parable of The Gift.
Much later, at John's funeral, I prayed a simple prayer that was the result of that lesson. Because of that prayer, a dying woman was spectacularly healed. See The Parable of The Weeping Woman.
I've been obsessed with publishing these stories ever since. I call them Parables. Because they are incredible, unbelievable, I ask that you to withhold judgement and simply sit by my imaginary campfire and just enjoy listening to the stories. I am not a scholar, or a reporter, and sometimes my less than perfect memory gets a detail wrong.
I am also not a Charismatic, although I will not criticize any denomination where the Crucified Son of God is lifted up.
Admittedly, I'm just a story teller. But I will warn you.
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE STORY!
