Description
Most people are confused about how to get real fitness results, and it is usually not their fault! If they aren't getting results, they generally think they need to put more time into their fitness. But if you did an experiment and
visited 10 different trainers asking them to give you a fitness and diet program, I bet you would come away with just as many different plans. And if you were to visit the gyms where these trainers work and observe the members, I’ll bet you will see most members don’t improve from week to week, month to month, and year to year.
A large part of this confusion is due to misinformation spread by outdated research, the misunderstanding of how to properly eat or exercise, or the latest fad diet or crazy supplement company trying to sell you on their latest miracle pill. I was confused too.
Six years ago I had an active lifestyle that allowed me to easily maintain a lean, fit body. I was young, had a good metabolism, and had a lot of free time to be physically active. As I grew up life changed, and it became increasingly difficult to keep up with my fitness. I got married, got a real job, had kids... and slowly but surely became more and more sedentary.
My job was good and comfortable, but it required me to sit up to 9 hours per day. Adding my 2 hour commute, I was vegging over 11 hours per day. The ironic thing is after sitting all day long I would come home exhausted, so all I wanted to do was have dinner and vegetate even more!
I went from a lean 185 lbs to 216 lbs (31 lbs increase) in six years, dramatically changing my physical appearance. I recognized something needed to change, and I tried everything to get back my old physique. The programs that seemed to work were those that required an hour or more per day of intense exercise, but they never lasted. I didn’t have the time of day make them a permanent part of my lifestyle. I was already away from home 11 hours every day for my job and it just wasn’t practical to slave for hours five to six days per week with a time-intensive workout schedule. Eventually I would get burned out, quit, and regain all the weight I lost. There had to be a better way!
I became obsessed with researching fitness and weight loss systems... anything I could get my hands on. My brothers and I became guinea pigs to my experiments. After years of trial and error and hours upon hours of research, I made a discovery! I found that when it comes to fitness, less can actually be more! My focus turned to identifying the absolutely most effective exercises and diet strategies that anyone can follow to maximize their genetic potential for burning fat, building muscle, increasing strength, and achieving lifelong health... all in just minutes per week. It is possible to have your cake and eat it too, literally! I will show you how!
Less is more. Let’s say your MED of sun is 15 minutes to produce a tan, and for whatever reason you stayed out for an hour. Your overdose of sun is likely going to cause a burn and peeling. On the contrast, your friend tanned for 15 minutes each day, and 5 days later you are back to your pasty, white self while he is 5 shades darker. Less can actually be more, and in some cases more might even hurt your desired results.
Introducing the 80/20 principle. This principle is often used in business to illustrate how 80 percent of sales come from 20 percent of the customers, or 80 percent of revenue is generated by 20 percent of the products. Although proportions may alter slightly depending on the application, the same principle applied to fitness can be used to show how 80 percent of our results are generated by 20 percent of our actions. The trick is to identify exactly what the most effective actions (exercises, diets, tricks, etc) are, and not waste our time and energy with anything else. This is our fitness MED.
