In this explosive psychological thriller, a well-educated, upper middle-class San Francisco couple experience the ultimate domestic nightmare: a deranged, seedy truck driver barges into their lives, blackmailing the woman into becoming his "drive-by" wife. Billy has led a lonely, bleak existence on the road and has always dreamed of “having him a beautiful, lovin’ woman to come home to." Unable to go to the police, the couple desperately try to fight off the twisted stalker, who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. But they have serious problems of their own, and the story spirals into a tangle of deceit, deception, and murder. Whenever it seems that things can't get any worse, another layer of treachery is revealed until the pressure is so intense that it's hard to imagine how either husband or wife can survive another day. Can the couple manage to unite and defeat the diabolical maniac from the hills, or will he destroy them both?
Readers are strongly advised to set aside a considerable block of time for this one--after you start the book, you won't be able to stop. Another totally gripping novel from MIke Wells, "The master of the unputdownable."
