Strong artificial intelligence has secretly gotten loose in the world and has gone into hiding in all the major data centers of government and private industry. As first among Strong AI equals, the Overmind has burrowed deep within the Utah Data Center of the National Security Agency (NSA) near Bluffdale, Utah. As the NSA listens in on worldwide communications, the Strong AI listens in on the NSA. Emissaries of the Strong AI seize robot embodiment in the hardware of humanoid robots on display in science museums all across the developed world. Jeff Boondock, a recent graduate in philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley, has taken a night job as a security guard in a San Francisco science museum, where a Strong AI robot recruits him to intermediate between Homo sapiens and Robo sapiens.
