Description
Game Time Grade 1-2 is packed with
• 40 fun filled age appropriate physical activities by a veteran P.E. teacher
• Based on National physical education standards
• Great for indoor and outdoor
• Easy to follow. Perfect for family playtime
As a physical education teacher with over a decade and 15,000+ hours of experience I’ve seen a trend through the years of children coming into the classroom without many of the motor skills and fitness conditioning that they should have already acquired. These children struggle jumping a rope, doing a forward roll, and throwing and catching. Some can’t move for 5 minutes continuously without being exhausted, touch their toes, or do a few push-ups.
This book of exciting and fun physical activities is created by a veteran physical education teacher. The goal is to help parents guide their child to become physically literate movers.
Physical activity is an integral part of the development of a child. But nowadays we see electronic devices competing with the century’s old (before apps) version of playing. Family time is the perfect time to merge the child’s play time, this book of age-appropriate physical activities, and with their role model, you.
Appropriate physical activities for your child
A child’s attitudes toward movement and fitness can be enhanced as they experience success through movement skills such as balancing, jumping, skipping, kicking, catching, and striking. We’re talking about fun activities with a purpose. With success, in these movement skills, kids are more likely to continue to be physically active and make it a lifestyle. This is one of the most important gifts we can give our children – how to be fit and to stay active. Ultimately, I want your child to have the skills needed so they can participate in a variety of physical activities. By doing so they will have a higher percentage to be active throughout their life, truly enjoy physical activities, and make it part of their healthy lifestyle.
The physical education State standards and nationwide standards provide guidance to quality physical education curriculum. The standards make sure a child is challenged at each grade level and help physical development.
In this book I’ve selected grade level and developmental appropriate physical activities that you can play with your child that are geared to:
• Improve coordination
• Improve fitness
• Play safely
• Make them confident movers
• And experience success by overcoming challenges
I’ll show you through the blueprint I’ve created what to do, why you’re doing it, how to do it, and ways you can make the activities more or less challenging for your youngster.
Keep it short and simple
In the manner of the K.I.S.S. principle, keeping it short and simple, the activities are applicable to everyday life. If you have 5-15 minutes you have time to do each one of the activities in this book.
The activities in this guide are for ALL parents including the one’s that may classify themselves as not coordinated. Everyone and I mean everyone has the ability to learn the skills that are in this guide. I’ve taught over 3000 students over the last decade and can confidently say you and your child will be successful and have lots of fun.
The set-up is a breeze. The activities in this book usually require less than 3 pieces of equipment such as sidewalk chalk, a few cones and hula-hoops. And a few water balloons for the hotter days ïŠ
