Aviation Safety: Mitigating Birdstrike Threat

Bird strikes have been a common hazard for aviation. They have caused a multitude of serious industry-wide mishaps, like US Airways Flight 1549 that was forced to land in the Hudson River in 2009 from colliding with a flock of Canadian geese. Dangerous aircraft incidents with birds have a particularly high potential at our nations' busiest fields, such as our military pilot training bases and main international airports.
