Description

Many people may not think so and probably find it even controversial and confrontational to say the least. However, when we look back into the ancient and esoteric teachings and compare them with the writings of pre- and early Christian texts, one undoubtedly finds that there is a connection between the chakras, the Christian Sacraments and the spiritual principles.

This booklet examines the connection between the chakras, sacraments and spiritual principles and the roles the play in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lives.
The seven chakra and even the thirteen chakra system have been mentioned in pre- Christian writings and were practices among other civilisations by the ancient Egyptians. The sacraments and chakras are connected to the number seven because, “the seven is the number of the God Elohim,” who symbolically created the world in seven days.

Knowledge of the existence of the chakra system goes back to the beginning of time and the birthplace of the human race said to be in Tanzania, (central Africa). In this region there is also a sacred mountain called Mount Meru. It is said the mountain represents the journey of life from the bottom of the mountain (the root chakra – sacrament of Baptism) to the top (the crown chakra – sacrament of Extreme Unction). It is further said to be the place where the knowledge of the energy system and chakras began.
Mount Meru also appears in ancient Egyptian and Indian mythology showing us both cultures had knowledge of the chakras. It seems that the majority of our present spiritual teachings come from the Indian Tantra Yoga tradition, which is one of the spiritual paths of the Dravidian Tantra which includes in its teachings segments on the charkas, astronomy, astrology and the Kundalini.
Many say the origin of chakras comes from the ancient Hindu scriptures which are the basis of the Core Vedic Teachings, which are believed to have been passed down orally for approximately a thousand years before being written down on paper between 1200 and 900 BCE.
