Most textbooks have failed to keep pace with the dynamic changes in electronics today. In many cases the newest circuits and/or devices now in widespread use are omitted or only lip service is provided by currently available textbooks. All too often current textbooks analyze basic electronic circuits in such detail that reader comprehension is impaired Fortunatley there are suitable simplifictions and approximations that predict circuit behavior without obscuring the reader's comprehension. This approach also yields surprisingly accurate results and is acceptable for all but the most exacting situations. A textbook should be written so that the reader can understand it without constant assitance from a teacher. This book allows self instruction for those not enrolled in a class, and in formal classroom situations it frees the instructor for laboratory work or supplemental efforts.
