Chloe, the preacher's innocent daughter, finally convinces her father to let her attend prom with a boy from church. My legs give out from underneath me. Like I’ve been pushed downward by God himself, I kneel in front of Mr. Cook. With my weeping face at his waist, I look upwards at his broad physique. Earlier, what seemed manly and handsome, now, filled with rage, just seems frightening. Glaring downward at my makeup that runs down my face, he seems angry enough to break me in half.

I place my hands together in front me, squeezing them tightly together, and start asking for forgiveness from God, my dad, Mr. Cook, and anyone else I can think of that my actions had offended.
