The Divining Rod - A History of Water Witching

In the early 20th century, the US Department of the Interior received many inquiries about whether or not the “Divining Rod” or “Water Witching” or “Dowsing” was a practical method of finding water, or other substances. This pamphlet was issued in 1917 as an informational guide to the subject. The Dept of the Interior was not convinced that Dowsing was of any use whatsoever. However, this booklet provides a good survey of the historical lore concerning the “Divining Rod”.
