The Mystery of the Misty Woods: a fantasy adventure

Why won't grown-ups allow their children to enter the Misty Woods? And why was the librarian so sniffy when siblings Samuel, Richard, and Annie and their friend Susanna told her they wanted to learn more about Halloween?

Like most youngsters, they enjoy dressing up in ghoulish costumes, carving jack o' lanterns and playing trick or treat. But they're also keen to discover the meaning behind the symbolism. They find themselves asking whether ghosts exist and does the spirit world really come alive at this time of year?

Their curiosity leads to some dramatic revelations. While this short novel lies firmly in the realms of fun, fright, and fantasy, it also sets out Christianity's competing claim to a festival sometimes branded as pagan and occult. The Mystery of the Misty Woods is suitable for readers aged eight and over with occasional scary scenes. It ends with a touching and dramatic climax.
