Description
Did you ever hear the one about the priest, the hooker and the young boy? Together they overcame impossible odds and brought a corrupt diamond empire to its knees.
When a young boy is murdered at a diamond mine in south Africa, Father Jacob Pitts must decide whether to heed the command of his religious superior or to follow his own heart to do the right thing and seek justice. Pitts finds himself in a dangerous game where his own life and the lives of the children in his orphanage are at risk.
Enter Andrew Johnson, a junior executive of the diamond mining company involved in the young boy's death. Andrew offers to help Father Jacob to solve the murder mystery, but gets tangled up in troubles of his own. A drunk and angry Russian sailor attacks a young prostitute outside the restaurant where Andrew is dining, so he intercedes. The hooker bolts, leaving Andrew to fend for himself. Oh-oh, Russian sailors carry knives. Huge knives. Just as the sailor is about to skewer our hero, there's a single gunshot. Then, oh-oh, the sailor is dead and Andrew is the only suspect. No problem. His employer, Peter Boogaerts, is the richest man in Belgium. No stranger to corruption, Peter can handle anything, like the murder of the young boy at his diamond mine.
Andrew goes out looking for a good time and stumbles across the hooker in Antwerp's Old Town. If he can get her to talk to the police, maybe they'll clear him of the murder. However, Leena is not receptive to the idea and has the bouncer throw Andrew out of her place of business. A few days later, he meets up with her again. This time she is using her full name-- Marleena Boogaerts. Marleena, Andrew and an assortment of Antwerp's richest are assembled at Peter's mansion to celebrate his daughter's, er, his grand-daughter's (both actually) fifth birthday.
Awkward, would you say?
