Viva Voce is an Italian phrase literally meaning with living voice . Viva Voce is an examination administered by spoken communication. This is a two dimensional examination comprising of a group of Lecturers or Professors in most cases termed as committee and a student or a group of students. The committee would raise certain Questions from the written examination(s) taken by the student(s) or a piece of work submitted by the student(s) i.e. Essay, Thesis, Dissertation Etc. Although a Viva Examination can also be taken independently without a prior written examination. This Oral Examination, over the years has become a necessary part of examination process for almost all kinds of degrees which students wish to qualify for. It is termed as the easiest way to assess the first hand knowledge of the students about their field of study, be it at any level.
