On Becoming Generative: An Introduction to Culture Care

Do we need beauty in our lives? When faced with crisis and limited resources how do we cultivate and care for our souls and the larger culture?

Written by Makoto Fujimura, artist, former presidential appointee to the National Council on the Arts, and founder of International Arts Movement and The Fujimura Institute, "On Becoming Generative: An Introduction to Culture Care" addresses the place of beauty in today's culture. "Culture care" is an alternative to culture wars that aims to promote cultural and human thriving. To this end, this text introduces a framework for "culture care" called "generative thinking," which promotes creativity, generosity, and vision for the future.
