“To get through some of the streets in Manila, you would need to dress as simple as possible, sometimes in a simple t-shirt and worn out trousers .” Maurits van Linder, when not travelling on foot, would take his bamboo bike, his camera, and his dog on a leash. “Taking our dog along with me broke the ice in capturing peoples’ expressions. It took the attention from me being a big, white foreigner, to being ‘one of them’ ".
