FACES OF MANILA (THE ARCHIPELAGO SMILE Book 1)

Faces of Manila is a five-part photograph book that features: Portraits, Life in the city, photographs of the city itself, cultural events, special occasions and typhoons.
Maurits J. van Linder (Dutch) worked as a professional photographer for corporate and special events, as well as portraiture. But in the early mornings, and weekends, took his lens to the streets of Manila where he collected thousands of images of people and their way of life, to put together his photo book; Faces of Manila (with English captions). “To get through some of the streets in Manila, you would need to dress as simple as possible, sometimes in a simple t-shirt and worn out trousers .” Maurits van Linder, when not travelling on foot, would take his bamboo bike, his camera, and his dog on a leash. “Taking our dog along with me broke the ice in capturing peoples’ expressions. It took the attention from me being a big, white foreigner, to being ‘one of them’ ".
