Merlin the Hooktail cat learns from his teacher Bonzai the Tuxedo cat how to deal with his emotions with the SpiritCalm technique, especially fear, and how to handle the bullying issue he has had for years with the big grey one-eyed bully cat.

SpiritCalm(tm) (previously NeuroCalm) is the author's own technique, as published in Psychology Today's blog in "NLP Experts Speak Out."

Besides a fun and magical story, you can use this book to teach children how to appropriately deal with anger, sadness, fear and anxiety and the Mind Pirates(tm) that result from mishandling emotions. Kids from age 6-96 will enjoy this story.

I have found that children between 6-11 need an adult to help them comprehend some of the ideas. They will still enjoy the fun story and get a message about compassion.

Children 12+ are usually able to grasp the concepts and put the techniques for emotional intelligence into action.
