The Adventures of Bernie the Banana Slug

Bernie is a banana slug that lives in the strawberry patch in Mrs. McIntyre's raised garden bed. He wakes up one spring morning dreaming of juicy strawberries. He slithers up to a warm spring day and is about to bask in the sun when he hears a screech. It is Mrs. McIntyre.
Mrs. McIntyre hates slugs. She scoops up poor Bernie in her hand spade and tosses him into the woods beyond the garden. Bernie tumbles head over foot and lands in the branches of a large maple tree. It is here he meets the ants. They warn him about a crow that is about to gobble him up. He escapes and hides. The next morning he is very hungry. In his search for food he meets new friends and begins his journey back to the strawberry patch.
