Rubin&Crocker's Developmental Disabilities - Delivery of Medical Care for Children/Adults
Description
This book is divided into 4 sections. Part 1 defines the population and gives an overview of the clinical needs and the various settings in which these needs and the various settings in which these needs can be addressed. Part 2 presents the main body of clinically relevant material in a spectrum going from early infancy to the geriatric age group and form a broad clinical perspective to specific and specialized concerns. Part 3 discusses services provided within large state residential facilities. Although this may be seen as an anachronism in an era when community services are being stressed, this section documents, first, the fact that we have learned much by becoming involved in these systems and secondly the fact that continuing requirements for care exist. Part 4 looks at the broader issues of planning and policy. In providing medical care for children and adults with developmental disabilities, there should be a coordinated resolve to ensure and improve the quality of life for these individuals and for their families.
