That might’ve been good for anybody else, but she was an artisan and while her hooch was inarguably the best stuff in the contiguous United States and Hawaii, one woman stood in the way of her hooch being the best in all of the United States: Songs Sorghum Harper, best hooch crafter in the Last Frontier.

On a quest to meet the only woman who might make hooch equal to hers, she treks to the wilds of Alaska. Of course, having lived in the wilds of Backwood, Kentucky, Mel isn’t put off by it. What she is put off by is Cadillac Garrison, who not only sees her but sees into her. Feeling things including her own femininity, puts her on edge, but Cadillac is nothing if not daring.

While everyone else is interested in her and Songs newest creation Hellfire & Brimstone, he’s more interested in the woman beneath the overalls, flannel, and Kentucky ball cap. Cadillac is a man accustomed to getting what he wants, and neither her desperately-in-need-of-a-shave-a-haircut-and-some-couth kinfolk, nor the area shifters will deter him from going after the only woman who has stirred his interest in the past five years. He isn’t afraid to fight for what he wants and he wants Mel with the fierceness. And knowing she wants him back only confirms that she’s as good as his.
