Our Birthrights Denied a Future Stolen

Much has been made of the present difficulties experienced by populations and of the austerity imposed upon peoples because of the woeful misuse of the global economy by financiers. ’Banksters’ are the latest pariahs to engage the media, lots of comment and analysis no alternatives to the status quo. Milton Friedman (US) opined “only a crisis - actual or perceived - procures real change…. the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around“. The following work conceives a different capitalist agenda for the reader to consider as an alternative to the continued subservience of the philosophical and political space to the financial one – ‘commonwealth capitalism’ as an alternative to ‘plutocratic corporatism’. The present furore should encourage a more than superficial look at citizen’s rights, government, land ownership, banking, elections, employment and educational provision. The views I present are necessarily personal, formed over decades of observation and reading that was undertaken in an effort to make sense of the world I inhabit. This capitalist critique is inevitably biased towards the UK situation but I put my thoughts out into the ether for consideration by anyone who may occasionally turn their thoughts to the equitable governance of States.
