Description
My first volume took you from my earliest memories to the end of my Sixteenth year. This volume covers age 17 up to age 23. This volume contains many of the things I thought I would never do that I ended up doing.
Life doesn't always play out the way we plan it. This was certainly the case for me. After my first book came out, many people reached out to me.
Of all the comments I received, it was the one from my oldest daughter that moved me to tears and forced me to publish this second volume ahead of my own personal timing.
I had sent her a printed copy before I published it. I chose her for two reasons. Her stance on God and her unwillingness to read. When I checked in with her to see if she had received the book, she sent me a text saying, "Yes. I'm on chapter 8. Call me."
I had no idea what she was going to say, but I was truly surprised she was so far along. She paid me all the compliments a reader longs to hear. (1) The book is hard to put down. (2) It is captivating and at times funny. (3) I've never read a book like this. Then she asked if she could give the copy to a friend that was depressed when she was done reading it. That made me sit up. I asked her, "So you think my book would be good for people who are depressed?" As you know all my life I just wanted to be a source of hope.
She went on to say, "Let me put it this way. When I began reading your book, I was trying to decide which would be better. Checking in or checking out. I just didn't know who would take care of my children. Your book is really good mom. It makes you see things differently. And that is really good." Tears were streaming down my face.
You see the reason I wanted to keep a journal was for her. I wanted her to know when times got hard that I understood. As you know I had previously lost everything I had ever written outside of a few children books I had written for her and her brother. Her words couldn't have been any more encouraging for me than that.
She asked me when book two was coming out and I told her I thought maybe after summer. She insisted I start working on it immediately. It is due to her request that volume 2 was completed so quickly. I truly hope it helps whoever reads it.
