Keith Ramsbottom (Episode II): The Emperor Strikes Back

AD 60. Rome is unhappy with the work of Paulinus, Governor of Southern Britannia and sends an Envoy to keep an eye on him. To distract the masses, Paulinus plans some gladiatorial games but unfortunately, the most dangerous animal to throw people to is one flea-bitten badger. To complicate matters, the Envoy takes rather a shine to Pulchritude, a local girl and key member of rebel group SORE, and suggests marriage- well, she is nearly 14. The marriage is set to take place after the games and rumours are rife about a special guest, a real fire-breathing dragon- Paulinus’ wife Flavia.
It is time for Keith Ramsbottom, leader of SORE and his clueless side-kick Horace, to come up with a plan to save the day. All they have to do is learn how to be ruthless gladiators in the space of a few days. The clock is ticking. At least, it would if someone would only hurry up and invent it.
Oh and there’s some fall-out from Pompeii- but not of the volcanic kind.
