Description
This eBook contains new chapters suitable for anyone who purchased Raspberry Pi Assembly Language Beginners which has now been updated and re-released as Raspberry Pi Assembly Language RISC OS Beginners. It contains around 90 new pages — about 35,000 words—that deal with advanced features of the ARM chip. This includes a look at the Floating Point co-processors, how to use the GCC Compiler under RISC OS and how to program the GPIO port and Thumb code.
The original book title seemed to create confusion as to which operating system it dealt with, especially after the launch of Raspberry Pi Assembly Language RASPBIAN Beginners, which was an introduction to the ARM using GCC on the Raspbian operating system and its various Linux incarnations.
I thought it was a good time to substantially revise and update the original text and take the opportunity to rename the book—since it well over a year old—to make it clear where its sits in Raspberry Pi distro hierarchy. Thus the original beginners’ book has now been succeeded by Raspberry Pi Assembly Language RISC OS Beginners.
Specifically the new chapters cover:
•Smarter Numbers
•Floating Point
•Context Switching
•VFP Control Register
•Modes Of Operations
•GPIO Functions
•GCC - An Introduction
•C Library and Directives
•C to Create Assembler
•Thumb Code
System on a Chip
