If you love dogs, cats, birds, etc., you should get some magazines, go to #636 at the library and get some books and check out possible careers with animals.

Some breeders sell dogs nationwide, others do it through local pet stores.
You can set up a few kennels to house dogs when their owners go away.

Start a grooming service for the bored, rich folk.

Some people have dog walking/ exercise service.

Some people have pet taxis.

Contact veterinarian places and ask them if you can subcontract a pet taxi service for them.

If you have a nice yard and some fenced off areas, you could start a dogcare service something like daycare. Word of mouth could
get your business rolling. Take some courses and become a trainer or a vet's assistant.

Some people have started poop scooping companies where they go to people's yards to scoop the poop, thepoop.com.

The most common pet professions are dog grooming and dog caretaker/ handler (taking dogs for walks).

The major jobs in the animal care field are:

Vet technician, vet assistant, generally two year program, 70+ programs accredited by the avma.org.

Animal caretaker, work at a zoo, sanctuary, animal farm, etc. No special training required, usually a volunteer position where you work up to a fulltime job.

Work at a scientific lab or pharmaceutical company that uses animals, vet's office, etc.

Work at animal shelters.

Dog catcher/ dog control, work for
municipalities.

Animal Trainer.
Groomer.

Train companion animals for blind, deaf,
disabled people.

Train animals for police, firefighting, customs,
military.

Zoo, aquarium, sanctuary work.

Pet daycare, pet walking, pet babysitting.

Pet store retail.

Fish and Wildlife Service, fws.gov.

Entomologist, insects.

Pet breeder.
