Mandie James, a romance therapist, needs a place for the summer to have some retreats for troubled couples. Her good friend convinces her to use the new guest ranch facilities at the CW Ranch she co-owns with her brother. It seems like a great idea to Mandie. Unfortunately her brother is far less than thrilled to have her and her clients on his ranch. But she's not against going to toe-to-toe with the stubborn man.

Cole Whitlock, a twice divorced former bull rider, reluctantly retires after one too many injuries. He takes over the family ranch and wants nothing to do with women, other than his sister and Great Aunt Bessie, who he also sort of inherited. But his sister has slightly different ideas about the ranch than he does. She thinks adding a guest ranch to the working ranch will help the cash flow. He's against the idea but knows they need the money. When his sister arranges to rent the guest part all summer to M.M. James, PhD, he is still not enthusiastic. Then he learns that M.M. is actually Mandie Marie, a pretty little blonde he fights to resist from the moment he sets on eyes on her. Worse, she's a romance therapist! Not only that, she's stubborn and determined to get under his skin and make him deal with the attraction sizzling between them. Even when he spanks her a couple of times, darn woman keeps on coming at him.
