Description
There are two main styles of architecture in Germany and in Iran. While a stone architecture is very common in Germany ( and generally in Europe), a clay architecture is commonly used in Iran. The present work, therefore, is a comparative, pictorial presentation of architectural features in two countries of Germany and Iran. In other words, the present work seeks to put two similar architectural features from Germany and from Iran in front of each other: one a stone or a modern architectural feature from Germany and the other a similar to it a simple or a clay architectural feature from Iran. To this objective, the illustrations are grouped into eight categories. Group 1: Public ( general) Buildings in Germany and in Iran; Group 2: Restored or Renovated Heritage Buildings in Germany and in Iran; Group 3: Towers; Group 4: Modern Bridges in Germany (20th century) vs. Historic Bridges ( 17th or 18th century century) in Iran; Group 5: Art works at the walls and portals of the buildings; Group 6: Religious Buildings Comparison of Religious Buildings: Architecture of Cathedrals in Germany vs. Architecture of the Mosques (the Jam'a) in Iran; Group 7: Arch and Domes; and Group 8: Shopping Centers in Germany vs. Traditional Baazaars in Iran.
The present work may be regarded as the first original work in Europe and in the Middle East to present, by illustrations, a comparative architectural view about Germany and Iran. . To be more specific, there are many books about art and architecture in Germany or in Iran. Such works are introducing or analyzing the main architectural features in either of the two countries. But none brings the two styles together side by side. On the other hand, the present work seeks to put two similar or somehow similar architectural features from Germany and from Iran in front of each other: one a stone or a modern architectural feature from Germany and the other, a similar to it, a simple or a clay architectural feature from Iran.
