John Gladstone, his crew, and what remains of the military have managed to take the state of Florida back from the infected with OPERATION PIED PIPER, sealing off the north end of the state with a barrier, putting down the infected with flail tanks and napalm.
As the refugees begin to filter out and find homes in Marion County, problems arise in the form of drunk drivers and joyriders. Cell phones and computer servers will never work again, and law enforcement has been set back to the year 1900 or so. John discovers that he needs police, fire rescue, a judicial system and many other services as they try to rebuild society.
And not only does John face the growing problem of the infected piling up on the HESCO Barrier, but two White Supremacist clans living in the National Forest have decided to make his life miserable, as well.
After a clan member kills one of his police officers, John decides to go medieval on their ass with OPERATION LOCKDOWN.
John gains a new daughter, Siobhan, a National Forest refugee that warns them about a massive car bomb plot. After the Aryan Nation tries to blow up a refugee memorial service, they also attempt to lynch General Samson, who is in charge of taking out the clan’s moonshine stills and weapons caches.
To restore order, John and Samson change OPERATION LOCKDOWN to OPERATION SCORCHED EARTH, and things start to get serious.
Deadly serious.
