Story Magic: Developing Language Skills Using Popular Children's Stories [Promotes Development of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Skills] (Ages 5-9)

This volume includes five popular children's stories that have been adapted for instructional use with students who exhibit language deficiencies and/or special learning needs. The short stories and the accompanying activities are designed for children between 5 and 9 years of age. They can be used to promote the development of skills in the following areas: 1) Listening skills. Children are asked to listen to stories and to respond to questions related to the story action. 2) Speaking skills. Children practice using language as they tell stories, answer questions, produce sentences related to the story events, and participate in role playing. 3) Reading and writing skills. Children's versions of the stories can be written down and used for classroom reading activities.
