Near Field Communication: The Digital Wallet

The number of identification, payment, membership, and discount cards we possess is growing at an ever increasing rate and it is becoming physically impossible to carry them all, let alone find the specific card you want when you need it. With the invention of Near Field Communication (NFC), based on, and in combination with, Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, the solution is finally here. NFC will rid us of the need to physically carry all these cards by storing their information in an encrypted, digital format on our smartphone and transmit the information to payment processing devices.
